Privacy Policy

Your coffee journal stays on your device.

Last updated: August 3, 2026

The short version

I built BeanList to keep track of my own coffee, and I wanted it to work the same way for you. There's no account, no BeanList server, and nothing about your journal is sold or shared. Everything you log stays on your device.

What BeanList stores

The bags you log, including photos, tasting notes, ratings, roaster, origin, process, variety, and price, are saved locally on your device. That's used only to build your journal and your flavor profile, and it never leaves your device.

Camera and photo library

BeanList asks for the camera or your photo library so you can attach a photo of a coffee bag. Reading the text off that photo happens entirely on your device with Apple's built-in text recognition. The photo and its text are never uploaded anywhere.

Your flavor profile

The flavor profile you see in Insights is calculated on your device from the bags you've rated. Nothing about your taste preferences is sent anywhere or shared with anyone, including me.

Exporting your journal

If you export your journal as a CSV file, you decide where it goes. I never see a copy of it unless you choose to send me one yourself, for example if you're emailing about a bug.

Data collection and tracking

BeanList doesn't use advertising trackers and doesn't track you across other apps or websites. It doesn't collect analytics from your journal either.

If you've opted in to sharing diagnostics with app developers in your Apple settings, Apple may pass along crash reports. I only use those to fix bugs.

Website hosting

This site, including this page and the support page, is hosted by a third-party provider that logs standard technical information to keep the site running and secure. I don't use those logs to identify you or build a profile of you.

Children's privacy

BeanList is meant for a general audience. It isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Deleting your data

Since everything lives on your device, you're in control. Delete individual bags in the app, or delete the app itself to remove everything at once.
